Sequential Nitrification—Autotrophic Denitrification Using Sulfur as an Electron Donor and Chilean Zeolite as Microbial Support

نویسندگان

چکیده

Sequential nitrification–autotrophic denitrification (SNaD) was carried out for ammonium removal in synthetic wastewater (SWW) using sulfur as an electron donor denitrification. Four reactors were operated batch mode, two with zeolite (1 mm size) used microbial support and without support, to assess the effect of addition SNaD. Aeration, anoxic, anaerobic cycles established, where 96% NH4+-N (oxidized nitrite or nitrate) achieved nitrification, along 93% NO3−-N SNaD zeolite. It observed that use assists buffering reactor load changes. Inhibition caused by accumulation stage minimized increasing nitrogen concentration SWW. The results obtained this study are basis development simultaneous a single reactor.

MnO2-AgX Zeolite Nanocomposite as an Adsorbent Catalyst for the Decontamination against Sulfur Mustard Simulants

The our main goal of the present research is evaluating the performance of MnO2 nanoparticles-AgX zeolite composite as a novel adsorbent catalyst for the decontamination reactions of two most known sulfur mustard simulants; 2-chloroethyl phenyl sulfide (2-CEPS), 2-chloroethyl ethyl sulfide (2-CEES) at room temperature and monitoring by Gas chromatography flame ionization detector (GC-FID) and G...

Sulfide removal from industrial wastewaters by lithotrophic denitrification using nitrate as an electron acceptor.

Sulfide is present in wastewaters as well as in biogas and can be removed by several physicochemical and biotechnological processes. Nitrate is a potential electron acceptor, readily available in most wastewater treatment plants and it can replace oxygen under anoxic conditions. A lab-scale reactor was operated for treatment of sulfide containing wastewater with nitrate as an electron acceptor ...

Shewanella spp. Use acetate as an electron donor for denitrification but not ferric iron or fumarate reduction.

Lactate but not acetate oxidation was reported to support electron acceptor reduction by Shewanella spp. under anoxic conditions. We demonstrate that the denitrifiers Shewanella loihica strain PV-4 and Shewanella denitrificans OS217 utilize acetate as an electron donor for denitrification but not for fumarate or ferric iron reduction.
